Bag of the Month, September Edition 6-9
Instructor: | Deb Riddle |
Instructor Bio: | Deb Riddle is a lifelong sewist. She began sewing as a child through Girl Scouts and 4-H in the 1970's. She took her first quilting class in the early 1980's using cardboard templates and scissors and was greatly pleased with Eleanor Burns and the Quilt in a Day books. Deb made most of her children's clothing, including outerwear when they were small. As a middle school math and science teacher, Deb also taught Family and Consumer Science to middle and high school students. She began teaching adult sewing and quilting classes in the early 2000s while in Montana at a local quilt shop in Great Falls, as well as working with the local County Extension Office to support adult sewing programs in the area. One of her favorite jobs was to work as a costume stitcher and costume shop manager for a Tuachan, a professional theater in St. George, Utah for two years. During her time as a costume stitcher, she honed her alteration skills and began working with adults teaching them how to alter patterns to accomplish a perfect fit. |
