Garment Workshop: Focus on Linen 10-5
Linen is a fabulous, durable fiber and a favorite for garment sewing. It is easy to sew with, presses beautifully and wears comfortably. RTQ recently acquired a rather large selection of linen and a good selection of patterns appropriate for the fabric. Learn how to select a pattern size, adjust the pattern to your size and create a lasting comfortable garment.
Recommended shop patterns include: Picasso Top and Pangs (photographed here), Pietra Pants, Trillium, Verdun Woven T-Shirt, Cielo, Free Range Slacks, and the Willow Tank Dress.
Samples of many of these can be seen in the shop.
Requirements: | The pattern you choose with determine the supplies needed. You will need a sewing machine. A serger is beneficial but not required. If you do not own a sewing machine, RainTree has classroom machines available for rent. Each student will need a good pair of fabric sheers, a seam ripper, measuring tape, fabric marking pencil, pins for pinning the pattern to fabric and pins for sewing. You will need thread to match your fabrics. Jodie's favorite is Isacord for garment sewing. |
