Quilt-as-You-Go 2024
Materials:
Instructions and pattern will be provided in class
Fabric
- 5 fat quarters- model was made from a pack curated by Raintree Quilting, a jelly roll, or a variety of 2 1/2” strips
o The model used the light fabric in the curated fabric pack for sashing between blocks.
- Backing/sashing- 2 yards
- Outer border-¾ yard
- Batting -1 yard
- Binding-5/8 yard
Sewing machine cleaned, oiled, and in good working order
¼ inch presser foot, or know where ¼ inch is on your machine or in the settings
Basic sewing supplies: scissors, pins/pin cushion, seam ripper, and any of your favorite notions
Thread to match your backing and any other color you want to quilt the blocks with- top and bottom threads may be different
Rotary ruler and cutter. There are a few cutting stations- bring your own mat if you don’t want to wait for a spot
Sewing machine needle size 80/12 for woven fabric (Universal or Microtex)
Homework: To ensure that you will complete your project in class, it will be helpful for you to:
- Cut your fat quarters into 2 1/2” strips. Start cutting from the selvage edge to make sure you have enough fabric to complete all 12 blocks
- Cut 12 – 10 ½” squares from your backing fabric
- Cut 12- 10 ½” squares from your batting
- Cut 4- 4 ½” strips for outer border
