Amanda Murphy Event: Quilting on a Frame 10 - 6
This program is appropriate for anyone wanting to learn more about quilting on a frame. The format of the class will be lecture/demo with possible opportunities for hands-on experience.
- Owners of the Frame and Q-matic models most definitely need to register as you will leave equipped with greater understanding of your machine and it's amazing capabilities.
- Owners of the Frame only models will also come away with a greater understanding of what you can accomplish with your current setup. You will also be exposed to the features of automation and associated software, developing a greater understanding of advanced custom techniques. Yes, you can custom design quilting in the Art and Stitch software.
- Quilters who are contemplating adding a Longarm frame model to their quilting tool box. Trying before you buy is simply wise. You may be considering purchasing your own or using a friend's. Learn what you can. The technology is amazing.
- Everyone: Piecers who contract their quilting out benefit tremendously when they actually see and understand the process of longarm quilting. They develop an insightful appreciation for "perfectly pieced" quilt tops and their relationship to longarm quilting.
Amanda will start with the basics of rulerwork and free-motion then move into the basics of the Q-matic.
The second half of the day will focus on digitizing in Art and Stitch, the software that comes with the BERNINA Q-matic. Yes! you can digitize designs and meet your custom quilting goals!
Please Bring:
- a notebook and pen for taking notes
- a laptop with Art and Stitch loaded AND activated. For those of you that own a Q-matic, you own a copy of Art and Stitch. Your are allowed to have the software activated on 2 computers. This full version is robust. (A trial version is available at www.artandstitch.com) Art and Stitch must be activated several days prior to the class. Activation occurs in Europe.
- Computer mouse compatible with your laptop - this is very important as a lot of features can only be accessed with the mouse.
- Quilting Gloves (for ruler practice)
