Amanda Murphy Event: Ruler Round-About 10-6
This program is appropriate for anyone wanting to experience quilting with rulers! Get a chance to try many of Amanda Murphy's Good Measure Quilting Rulers, featuring a non-skid backing and amazing two-color markings. Amanda will guide you through creating some of her favorite designs and teach you how to utilize the marks on the rulers in many different ways. Find out which are right for you and your unique quilting style.
Participants will learn techniques on their machines AND on store machines, hence the "round-about." Be prepared to experience a variety of rulers, techniques and machines.
Note from Jodie: The rulers we use in rulerwork totally make a difference like any sewing tool. Some are simply designed better than others! If you have tried rulers before and have not enjoyed the process, consider trying again. Amanda is known for her rulerwork, free-motion and digitizing. She is a wealth of knowledge and an incredible teacher!
Please Bring:
- a notebook and pen for taking notes
- Quilting Gloves (for ruler practice)
- Marking tool of choice: chalk pencil, frixion pen...
- 12 - 12 1/2" cutting ruler for measuring and marking purposes (You do not need a rotary cutter)
- Students may bring their own BERNINA machine or use RainTree machines. Ruler depths are appropriate for certain brands of machines. So, if you are an avid quilter not using BERNINA, the class is still great for you but the rulers we are using are designed for the shank of BERNINA machines. For instructional purposes, all machines need to be BERNINA. Class machines will be available.
- A sew steady slide on table for your machine. A flat surface makes a difference. Your BERNINA slide-on will work, but is limiting.
- Foot #72 or #72s
- Straight stitch plate for your machine
- 90/14 topstitch needles or jeans needles
- Perfect Quilting Thread (Available in store prior to event), a new favorite of Amanda's
- 3 prepared Fat-Quarter quilt sandwiches in light solid colors
- Free-Motion Glider (Available in store prior to event)
