Batiks are a Favorite of RainTree Quilting Customers
Batik fabrics are typically made using a traditional method that involves drawing a design onto the fabric (or stamping a design onto fabric) with a resisting substance such as wax and then dyeing the fabric. Once the wax is applied, the fabric is dyed. The dye is absorbed by the parts of the fabric that aren’t covered in wax, creating the pattern. Finally, the fabric is boiled to remove the wax and reveal the fabric’s original color underneath. This process can occur in stages resulting in colorful designs.

RainTree has a thoughtful selection of "feature" batik fabrics. These fabrics have unique designs on them and become the focal fabrics in your projects.
Blender Batiks
We also over a variety of blender (colorwall, basics) batiks to complement the feature prints. The Hoffman 1885 collection is widely used with batiks and traditionally printed cottons. Our curated collection also includes dots and stripes!
