Mettler's 3-ply Polished Cotton Thread is a Favorite of RainTree Quilting's Staff
It is a fabulous all-purpose sewing and quilting thread suitable for piecing, crafting, garments and more.
Mettler's Metrosene is a PERFECT all-purpose 100% polyester thread.
We recommend this thread for your garment sewing needs. Polyester thread is stronger and certainly more desirable for garments. Garment seams experience greater stress then quilt seams. We LOVE polyester threads in garment work and so does the garment industry!
SERAFLEX® 100% PTT (polytrimethylene terephthalate)
RainTree Quilting has this thread in a very select color range. It is specifically designed for knit seams but NOT for the loopers of overlockers. It is perfect for seaming in your conventional sewing machine. So, this might be your knit sewing solution for straight seams when you do not own an overlocker!
Fantastic - elastic SERAFLEX is the perfect sewing thread for highly elastic seams on all stretchy fabrics. It makes especially the straight stitch extremely stretchable. Due to its innovative Raw material PTT (37% renewable Raw material) an elongation of approx. 65% is achieved. Due to its extremely elastic properties, SERAFLEX is primarily used for clothing, such as outdoor and sportswear, women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, lingerie, and underwear. SERAFLEX should be used both as needle and bobbin thread and exclusively in straight stitch with the thread tension set as loose as possible.
